Getting Married in a
Catholic Church in Mexico

o get married in a Catholic Church in Mexico, you must complete all of the pre-marriage counseling classes with your local priest in your own town, and publish the banns.

You need to go to your church and ask them what papers they need from you.

After you cover these formalities, your priest needs to write a letter to the Bishop in La Paz, Baja California Sur, saying you are allowed to get married in Mexico.

The Bishop in La Paz will notify the priest in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, depending on which church you have chosen for your wedding.

It is very important to remember that all of this must be done prior to your arrival in Cabo.

Once the priest receives notification from the Bishop, we can go ahead and reserve a date for your wedding. In the event you would like to bring your own priest, your letter must indicate this and provide his name and parish information.
